A puppy was found abandoned inside a bathroom in the Las Vegas airport with a note, and now, locals are trying to find him a new home.

The Chihuahua-mix dog—named Chewy—had a note with it written by a woman, who said she was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t afford to put the puppy on a flight. “She didn’t want to leave me with all her heart but she has no other option,” the note read.

The owner’s “ex-boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting and he has a big knot on his head.”

“He probably needs a vet. I love Chewy so much please love and take care of him,” she wrote.

The local shelter, Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue, which has been housing the animal, said they’ve been flooded with requests to adopt Chewy.

As soon as the dog is recovered from its injuries, he will be available for adoption, the shelter wrote on Facebook. “Please share in hopes that his mom sees this that she was brave to leave and that he will have a great life,” reads the caption. “It’s gonna take weeks to dig through all those loving requesters,” the shelter also wrote in another post.
