There was a time when Samsung never worried about launching a new Galaxy Note model in the fall even though it meant running directly into a new iPhone launch.
However, with the launch of the iPhone 6 Plus last year, Samsung’s thinking may have changed. G for Games points us to a new rumor in Korean blog Whowired that claims Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 5 in later July, or a little more than a month before Apple is expected to unveil its newest iPhone phablet in September.

Specifically, the blog’s sources claim that Samsung has “confirmed the final specification of its latest prototype and showcased it to its clients including global telecom companies to take pre-orders before the launch at the end of July.”
Samsung apparently wants a new flagship device to launch alongside its Samsung Pay mobile payments platform that is also due to come out this summer and from that perspective the Galaxy Note 5 will be a strong contender.
The Galaxy Note series has traditionally been one of the very best things Samsung has done — not only do the Notes serve as perfect showcases for Samsung’s gorgeous displays but they’re also always packed with cutting-edge hardware that sets the standard for what people expect from a flagship phablet.
So if Samsung wants to roll out the Galaxy Note 5 earlier than expected this year, we’re absolutely not going to complain.
