The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is investigating Chrysler Group LLC due to consumer complaints of sticky accelerator pedals in 2007 model-year Dodge Caliber compact cars.
The Elkhart, Indiana-based CTS Corp. is the supplier for Chrysler pedals. CTS is also the supplier of Toyota, which was the subject of a multimillion car recall in January. So far, Chrysler and NHTSA are not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue.
“It appears to be a supplier manufacturing concern, which is mechanical in nature and not a design or electronic issue,” Chrysler said in a company statement. So far, Toyota has also maintained that its gas pedal problem is also caused by mechanical, not electronic, issues.
