New details about Doctor Who series 8 have recently emerged, including a short trailer and a premiere date time frame.

BBC recently released a teaser trailer that shows the silhouette of the new Doctor, Peter Capaldo, in the TARDIS. Another trailer, created by a fan, has gained acclaim as well.

BBC announced that the series will premiere in August, although a specific date hasn’t been announced The show hasn’t premiered in August since season 18 in 1981.

It premiered on August 30 that year. Season 13 also premiered on August 30 while season 6 premiered on August 10.

Speaking about Capaldi playing the new Doctor, writer Mark Gatiss recently said: “He’s a wonderful man and one of our best character actors. I knew immediately - from watching other things - there was going to be a certain level of twinkly Scottish intensity to him. ”There’s madness in his eyes! He’s just an amazing dramatic actor and a very funny actor - which is exactly what you want for the Doctor.”

Ben Miller, Tom Riley, Keeley Hawes, Hermione Norris and Frank Skinner have been confirmed as guest stars for the eighth series, reported Digital Spy.

Series 8 will include 13 episodes and is slated to be broadcast without any breaks once it starts. Filming began in January 2014.
