Disneyland’s newest Lightning Lane feature sees prices jump as the holiday crowd enters the theme park gates.

The price for the Individual Lightning Lanes in Disney California Adventure Park increases from $7 to $18 per ride for Spider-Man Web Slingers and Radiator Springs Racers.

While the Individual Lightning Lanes have an $11 jump, the Disney Genie service for the other 19 of the rides with Lightning Lane accessibility remains at $20 per day.

The Lightning Lanes are a part of the Disney Genie+ service—an add-on that allows visitors to skip lines once a day for each attraction with a Lightning Lane entrance—launched nearly two weeks ago.

The lanes are intended to provide park-goers with the opportunity to shorten wait time by making a reservation for an attraction, replacing the park’s former FastPass and MaxPass features.

Since the launch of the Lightning Lanes, users have experienced a satisfactory front-of-the-line experience.

Before the price change, Disneyland Instagram blogger, The Happiest Dad on Earth, used Lightning Lane access to ride the Spider-Man Web Slingers attraction.

“I have also noticed the Genie Lightning Lanes are more efficient than previous fast pass lanes,” he said. “The return time to lightning lanes [is] sooner than what fast pass was, so you’re able to ride more attractions.”

Bypassing the standby line at the cost of $7 was worth it, he said. However, with the recent price hike, he would not purchase the Lightning Lane pass for the ride again.

As Christmas approaches, Disneyland has opened slots for the Dream Key annual passholders to make a reservation for the theme park from Dec. 23 to Dec. 30 while other annual pass options remain sold out, according to the Disneyland website.
