A massive power outage hit Detroit on Tuesday, according to reports.
The outage is affecting a number of buildings downtown, including the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice, Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, Joe Louis Arena, schools, and the City-County building, reported CBS Detroit.
The downtown electrical grid started having problems at around 10:30 a.m.
Street lights are also out. Wayne State University is also affected.
“It’s a pretty wild scene,” WWJ’s Vickie Thomas said. “We heard sirens and two fire rigs pulled up here to the City-County building, and I asked the firefighters — they jumped out with all sorts of tools and whatnot —if they were trying to rescue people from the elevators; and that’s exactly what they are doing.”
