Wisconsin Democrats said Tuesday they are launching an initiative to recall Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, starting on Nov. 15.

“That means we have only about a month to organize, train, and fund an army of volunteers,” they added.

Even though it is “a task of historic proportions,” the Democratic Party of Wisconsin stated it is confident that it can obtain 540,206 recall signatures to oust Walker.

Walker has been under fire from Democrats for his controversial union rights law, which was heavily protested against in the capital, Madison, earlier this year. However, he has also drawn praise from Republicans across the country.

If Walker is successfully recalled, he would be only the third governor in U.S. history, after California Gov. Gray Davis was ousted in 2003, which led up to the election of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The first was the 1921 recall of North Dakota Gov. Lynn Frazier.
