Several Democrat pollsters and analysts have expressed alarm in recent days about their party’s prospects ahead of the Nov. 8 midterm elections.

Historically, the party of the president tends to lose seats in Congress in midterm elections. Democrats currently hold a slim majority in the House and operational control in the Senate, which is split 50–50.
