Deidrie Henry, the Popeye’s Fried Chicken and TV commercial actress, has not died, contrary to false rumors circulating on the Internet this week.
On Twitter and Facebook, people were tweeting “RIP Deidrie Henry,” or they were asking if she had died.
The origin of the hoax appeared to be photo of the actress, which says “RIP Deidrie Henry.” There’s no other context offered.
“RIP Deidrie Henry,” wrote one person. “Wow, You will truly Be Missed!” Added another, “RIP Deidrie Henry... Love that chicken from Popeyes.”
Another wrote, “RIP Deidrie Henry aka the Popeyes Lady.” Said another, “Did Diedrie Henry really die ... i loved her !!!”
One user suggested that the food from Popeye’s may have killed her. “The Popeyes lady died smh I’m never eating that food again. I love my life too much,” it reads.
There’s been no credible reports from local or national media outlets about her dying.
Henry most recently appeared in the TV shows “Justified” in 2014, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Twisted,” “The Good Mother,” and “Twisted.”
She also appeared in “ER,” “Without a Trace,” “Rizzoli & Isles,” “Bones,” “Southland,” and “Heartland.”
Henry also won the Ovation award for “Yelowman” in 2006 and “Raisin in the Sun” in 2011.
However, she’s most famous for “Annie” in the Popeye’s commercials.
