The NOAA’s Okeanos Explorer mission has encountered quite a few life forms during the 2016 Hohonu Moana expedition. Swimming and swaying amidst the depths off the coast of Hawaii, some creatures have rarely, if ever, been seen before.
Video footage shows there’s a transparent little guy. And then a purplish, billowy thing. The two look like characters from a video game. Various forms of corals abound. Who can forget the ghostlike look of the so-called Casper octopus? Yes, the deep waters below the Hawaiian coast are rife with diversity.
