Dee Liner, an incoming freshman defensive end for Alabama, flashed a large wad of cash on Instagram, drawing reactions--and lots of criticism--from users.

The photo showed Liner and two other men hold wads of $100 bills.

In an accompanying statement, Liner wrote he and his friends are “ballin!”

Liner deleted the post, but it was saved and was posted by several media agencies.

The young Crimson Tide player faced harsh criticism for the bills. Some believed that he was getting paid to play for the team, which is illegal under NCAA rules.

“Alabama football player Dee Liner (left) shows how bad it looks to broadcast a ‘MoneyShot’. Athletes, don’t do this,” wrote radio host Adam Ritz.

He faced a backlash from other Twitter users.

“Don’t judge me when u have no clue what I have been through!!!” he wrote on Twitter following the comments.
