Davion Navar Henry Only, an orphaned teenager from Florida, spoke in front of his church’s congregation, asking if a local family would adopt him.

“I'll take anyone,” Davion said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. “Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don’t care. And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be.”

Only, 15, gave the speech in front of a group of churchgoers in St. Petersburg, Fla., in September.

“My name is Davion and I’ve been in foster care since I was born. . . . I know God hasn’t given up on me. So I’m not giving up either,” he said.

The Times reported that as of publication time, two couples asked about him but no one came forward to help him.

Only was born when his mother was in jail, and he has been in and out of foster homes since. When he looked up his mother, she was jailed for cocaine possession and petty theft and died in July.

His caseworker, Connie Going, said that he had a bad temper before but that’s changed.

“He decided he wanted to control his behavior and show everyone who he could be,” Going told the paper.

And Floyd Watkins, he manager at Carlton Manor where the boy lives, said Only has “come a long way.”

“He’s starting to put himself out there, which is hard when you’ve been rejected so many times,” he said, according to the Naples News.
