David W. Cunniff, a New York State Trooper, died after being involved in an accident on Monday night, it was reported.
State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico said that he was hit by a tractor-trailer while carrying out a traffic stop in Amsterdam, New York, reported Pressconnects.com.
The tractor-trailer hit both Cunniff and the other vehicle.
The truck was driven by a man from Ontario, which was hauling insulation.
Cunniff is a nine-year veteran of the State Police, reported the North Country Gazette.
