David Oliver, the Brimfield, Ohio police chief, slammed Kanye West after his military job comparisons.

West said that his job as a famous rapper is akin to being a police officer “or in war or something,” drawing negative reactions.

But Oliver called on West to do something to back it up.

“Since you are accustomed to danger … I would like you to volunteer to be deployed in Afghanistan or one of the numerous other forward locations where our men an[d] women are currently serving.” Oliver wrote, according to a police department Facebook post.

“When the Taliban starts shooting at you, perhaps you could stand up and let the words flow. It could be something like ‘I’m Kanye West, wearing a flak vest.’ I’m sure they would just drop weapons and surrender. You could quite possibly end all wars, just from the enemy being star-struck.”

Oliver said that he was offended by West’s comments “because I just don’t think that any entertainer can compare what they do to ducking bullets for a living,” ABC reported.

He said that while he took offense to the police officer comparison, the military one crossed the line.

“[Y]our job is just some very dangerous work,” Oliver added. “Most people don’t consider [that] if you rap really fast, without a chance to inhale, you could pass out and hit your head.”

Oliver also invoked Ice Cube in saying to “check yourself, before you wreck yourself.”

When West made the statements, he was in an interview with SaturdayNightOnline.com.

He said in full: “I’m just giving of my body on the stage and putting my life at risk, literally,” and added: “That mountain goes really, really high, [...] and if I slipped…You never know ... And, I think about it. I think about my family and I’m like ‘Wow, this is like being a police officer or something, in war or something,’” according to the New York Daily News.

West cited the constant public scrutiny that he has to face everyday as a mega-celebrity.
