Two people were arrested for plotting to capture and kill a Las Vegas police officer.

The arrest of David Allan Brutsche, 42, and Devon Campbell Newman, 67, was the result of a months-long undercover investigation, said police.

The couple belong to some sort of “sovereign citizen movement” which had “expressed a deep hatred” for police officers in the past, police told KTNV

The pair planned to kidnap a random officer, keep him or her captive in a makeshift jail, and try the officer in a sovereign court of law. After the so-called conviction, the pair planned to kill the officer.

The pair met with undercover officers multiple times and discussed both their plans and their hatred of police.
