LOS ANGELES—Yu Ping, a resident of San Diego, spoke at the “50 Million People Quitting the Chinese Communist Party” rally that was held in Los Angeles on February 22, 2009. She spoke on behalf of herself and three other American residents whose mothers have been illegally detained by the Chinese Communist regime because of their belief in Falun Gong.

Ping told her own story about the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners under the Communist regime. Millions of families like hers are suffering from the persecution, and she called for help rescuing these brave and kind mothers.

The following is Yu Ping’s speech:

“My name is Yu Ping. I come from Dalian, China. My mother, Wang Chunyan, was illegally sentenced to five years in prison in 2007, and has been held in China’s Liaoning Dabei Women’s Prison for the last year and a half. Since the beginning of the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, this has been my mother’s second imprisonment.

“My mother was a successful entrepreneur before she was sentenced. She had benefited both mentally and physically from practicing Falun Gong, so she decided not to give it up. My whole family has suffered greatly during the past ten years of persecution. My father endured great pressure and he was tortured to death when he tried to protect my mom from the persecution seven years ago. My mother’s two sisters are also imprisoned because of their belief in Falun Gong.

“My grandparents could not endure such a big shock, the same as my cousin and me. My grandmother became paralyzed after my father was killed and not very long after that, my grandfather died. My family, twenty of us who used to be happy together, has collapsed. All of this happened only because we adhere to our principles of being good people in society by following Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.

“At the beginning of this year, I heard that my mom was at risk of death from hypertension. Her blood pressure is 220 over 110. The inhumane police told my family about it but refused to release my mother.

“The memory of my dad’s death and anxiousness for my mom sometimes makes it hard for me to breathe. It feels like a viper is gripping me tightly.

“Pang Jin is a graduate student at Missouri State University whose mom, Cao Junping is illegally detained for her belief in Falun Gong. Just one week before the Beijing Olympics, Cao Junping was abducted by police in Weifang, Shandong province and she has been detained in the Qingzhou detention center for the past 7 months. No family members have seen her and all of them have been threatened by the police as well. Cao Junping’s house was ransacked and her family members were extorted more than 100,000 yuan. Cao Junping is 52 years old and is a good wife and mother. Pang Jin is the only child in the family, the same as me. We are overseas but are still very worried about the many families who are being broken up and persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.

“Wang Maqiong is a US citizen, the daughter of Ma Jinhua. Ma Jinhua was supposed to visit her daughter last year, but her house was ransacked by police in Hefei just four days before she was to depart. She was held in isolation and then sent to a detention center. After that, she was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp very quickly. She has been detained for five months at this time. She used to call her daughter from the detention center but was refused without any reason by the police. At the time of their family reunion on New Year’s Day, Ma Jinhua was held in a detention center far from home. It was reported that Ma Jinhua is forced to work 12 hours a day, even though her parents give her money for her needs.

“There is another special daughter whose name is Zhang Zhishuo. She is only 10 years old. Her mother Jia Yahui used to be a reporter for the Liaoning Evening Newspaper. During the Beijing Olympics, Jia Yahui was taken away by police during her cousin’s wedding ceremony. Then she was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp. It was learned that this young mom was shocked with electronic batons only because she refused to write brainwashing articles. A ten-year-old daughter is at the age mothers cherish, but Zhang Zhishuo is suffering greatly under the brutal policy of persecution by the Chinese Communist regime. She is so little, yet still holds her mom’s picture and looks for help everywhere.

“As we all know, the experience of our moms are just the tip of the iceberg. During the past ten years, many happy families have been broken up by the CCP’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Many children have lost their happy childhoods and must live with bitter memories forever. Some have never seen their parents since they were born.

“Our kind and innocent mothers are like the millions of other Falun Gong practitioners in China. They are suffering only because they steadfastly uphold their belief in Truth, Compassion and Forbearance and peacefully resist the persecution.

“The persecution has lasted 10 years. Many innocent Falun Gong practitioners are being abducted, beaten, sentenced to prisons and labor camps and even tortured to death as it continues.

“We are here to call for help and to raise awareness from different communities, different levels of government and the international community to help rescue our mothers and call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

“You can help by signing our petition and to write to your Senator and Congress member about our mothers’ stories and ask them to help us.

“Every single signature, email or just the words “stop the persecution” are very supportive to us and a great endeavor to make the world better and better.

“Thank you for your support!”
