Approximately $6.2 million worth of jewelry was allegedly stolen from the daughter of the mayor of Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, on Tuesday.

Officials say that Leonid Chernovetsky’s daughter, Kristina, was traveling to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport when a male broke into her car, taking her purse that contained the valuable items, reported AP. The incident took place in Paris’ northern suburbs.

The unidentified thief escaped after being chased by Ms. Chernovetsky’s driver.

The elder Chernovetsky gained most of his wealth owning one of Ukraine’s largest banks.

According to Mayor Chernovetsky’s spokesperson, his daughter denied that she was robbed, adding that she was in Kyiv when the incident took place, reported France24.
