Darth Vader mask-wearing Max Page has created a stir throughout the Internet, appearing on the Today show on Monday.
Volkswagen’s “The Force” commercial has quickly become a favorite among viewers, according to a number of media polls.
In the commercial, a young boy clad in Vader gear attempts to use “The Force” to move a number of household items, including the family car.
Page, 6, appeared with his mother Jennifer on the Today show. His mother noted that the amount of exposure the family is getting via the commercial is tremendous.
“We were just thrilled. We thought it was his first national commercial,” she said. The commercial was first put up on YouTube and has since attracted 16 million viewers.
Page has also starred in the soap opera The Young and the Restless as well as commercials for Clear Communications and Walgreens.
Entertainment Weekly noted that Page, with his long blonde hair, looks a bit like a young Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.
He said that he had never watched the Star Wars movies before he did the commercial.
Although he is only six years old, Page’s life story can serve as an inspiration for anyone, his mother said on the show.
He was born with a congenital heart condition and underwent surgery when he was just a few months old. To this day, he has had to use a pacemaker.
“They saved his life and gave him back to us about a week after his first surgery,” his mother said on the Today show. “He had to have a pacemaker put in, so he has maintenance on that.”
Page receives treatment at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
