Darrelle Revis trade: New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis is heading to Tampa Bay for a physical with the Buccaneers and is expected to sign a contract with the team, according to a report from the New York Daily News.

Revis, who spent most of last season sidelined with an ACL injury, left to Tampa on Sunday morning after he received permission from the Jets, the paper reported.

“It sucks. Losing a guy like that just sucks,“ conerback and teammate Antonio Cromartie told The News of the reported Revis deal. ”Leader in locker room, leader in classroom, leader on field. Great playmaker.”

“I’m surprised really, to tell you the truth,” he added. “I’m surprised more so than anything.”

It was also reported that Revis wanted to stay with New Yorl, but in recent days, he was “resigned” with being traded to the Buccaneers, according to the paper.

Revis and Tampa Bay, however, have to work quickly on a deal before Thursday’s NFL draft.

In the trade, New York will likely get several draft picks that will include the No. 13 overall selection.

And the trade appears very likely to go through.

“There’s a .001 chance this deal doesn’t happen, so I don’t want to say it’s done,” a source told Yahoo Sports. “There’s always a chance something could go wrong, but it’s unlikely.”

Revis has reportedly sought a deal for $15 million to $16 million per year.
