Dario Franchitti has been taken to a hospital in Houston on Sunday after a crash in the IndyCar race.
Franchitti, a three-time Indianapolis 500 champion, was clipped by Takuma Sato before his car flipped, reported ABC.
The car then landed upright.
Franchitti was awake and alert a few minutes after the crash.
