Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant could see playing time in the final preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.

ESPN reported on Saturday that the Cowboys’ lackadaisical offensive performance in the preseason may prompt the team to call on Bryant to start during the last game of the preseason.

Bryant was running warm-up routes on Saturday, but has not played in a single preseason game thus far due to a high-ankle sprain that he suffered on July 30.

“I’m very anxious to get back on the field,” Bryant told ESPN. “At the same time, I know it’s a work in progress. I have to do everything everybody asks me to do to get back to 100 percent ... I just have to be smart.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he was sure that Bryant would be able to play in the first regular season game on Sept. 12 against the Washington Redskins.

Bryant was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft after playing college football for Oklahoma State.
