The rape charge filed by Jessi Smiles against her ex-boyfriend and fellow Vine star Curtis Lepore was dropped by a judge as part of a plea deal, which prompted reactions from both on Twitter.

Lepore pled no contest to felony assault, but that will be graded down to a misdemeanor assault if he completes 24 days of community service and a year of counseling.

Lepore responded to Smiles and others who have been criticizing him over what allegedly happened by saying: “You can’t destroy me.”

He added “Treat others the way you want to be treated,” and also asked his fans to tell him if they would “willingly” have sex with him, which prompted a flood of more criticism.

Smiles meanwhile said: “Curtis plead guilty to a felony assault today in court. It is no longer going to trial. I am okay with this and thankful for it to be over.”

She told her fans that she appreciated their support, telling them that she is “beyond thankful.”

After some of Lepore’s perceived inflammatory tweets, she added two other tweets:

“Funny thing about knowing your truth is that you don’t have to explain yourself to anyone.”

“I guess sometimes you don’t even need to hand someone a shovel for them to wind up burying themselves.”

Last month, Lepore called on fans to not judge him, saying that “things aren’t always what they seem.”
