Cure concert quake: A Mexico concert featuring The Cure was shaken by an earthquake, it was reported Monday.

A quake measuring magnitude-5.9 hit Mexico City’s Foro Sol stadium just a few minutes before the band was slated to perform.

At the concert, the quake startled the crowd of 40,000.

“I thought that I was losing my balance as I felt the ground drifting away from under my feet. Then people started screaming and I was told that an earthquake was taking place,” Bernard Van Isacker of entertainment site Side-line.com was quoted by Yahoo News as saying.

He added: “I could see those big station spot posts shaking back and forth as if there was a huge storm taking place. Instantly all communication via mobiles was also interrupted as thousands were trying to call their family.”

Bernard said that Cure frontman Robert Smith was celebrating his 54th birthday.

Bernard said, “I guess Robert Smith had no better way to celebrate his birthday today,” according to the List.co.uk site.

No one was injured in the quake and the band performed for four hours.
