Virat Kohli, India’s vice-captain, hit a career-best, knocking out 169 runs in the third test against Australia in the cricket test series down under.

Kohli, after reaching a century, stopped to acknowledge the crowd’s applause and blew kisses towards his partner, Anushka Sharma, in the audience and Australian counterpart Mitchell Johnson, on the field.

His century and career-best knock come days after a heated conversation on the field with Mitchell Johnson when Johnson was dismissed, an incident that caused the game umpires to have a chat with Kohli.

Kohli has come out loud and openly against the Australian team for what he terms their “sledging” or use of verbal language to intimidate the opposing team. While sledging is not illegal, it falls in a gray zone for cricketing and is generally frowned down upon. After Kohli went public with his complaints, he was criticized from several sides, but it seems to have only improved his confidence and scoring abilities.
