A New York City man was charged with posting a “baby for sale” advertisement on Craigslist, it was reported.

Paul Marquez, a 23-year-old from Staten Island, is accused of trying to sell a 2-month-old child for $100, reported NBC New York.

“I have a 2-month-old baby, she loves to play and have her little fun, but there’s one problem, doctors say she has asthma and if she turns a certain way she can stop breathing. She’s really getting on my nerves and I don’t want her,” the ad reads, according to CBS New York.

The Staten Island District Attorney office said that Marquez admitted to posting the ad, saying that he used photos of the baby and gave out the mother’s phone number.

Marquez, who is being held on $1,000 bail, is charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. Both are misdemeanors.

Law enforcement sources told ABC New York that he had been out with the mother several times, and he was apparently upset that she would not give him more attention.

As a result, Marquez then allegedly posted the ad to get back at the mother.

He could get a year in jail if he is convicted.

Marquez is slated for another court appearance on Tuesday.
