A British pair faces one month in jail for publicly kissing in a Dubai restaurant.
Ayman Najafi and Charlotte Louise Adams were charged for kissing and drinking alcohol after a Muslim woman who was dining with her daughter, notified the authorities that the couple broke Dubai’s decency laws in a roadside restaurant.
The pair admitted to drinking alcohol, but is appealing the other conviction, saying that they had just kissed on the cheek.
Many local Dubai residents adhering to Islamic tradition are offended by the more open Western style, which they consider disrespectful.
