The New York Police Department has finally cracked the infamous Prospect Park rape case, identifying the perpetrator this week.

The nearly 24-year-old case was cracked using DNA.

Sources told the New York Post on Jan. 9, that the man who raped a woman in the popular Brooklyn park in 1994 has been identified as James Edward Webb.

The 68-year-old serial rapist is currently serving 75 years to life at Sing Sing.

The victim told detectives she felt vindicated, after her initial story in April 1994 was doubted by police.

New York Daily News columnist Mike McAlary and the News faced a $12 million libel suit for his columns, saying the story was made up, but a judge later dismissed the suit.
