Connecticut police officers tricked two suspects into surrendering after imitating the barking sound of a dog.

The suspects were holed up in a New Haven house on Friday when at least one officer, who was not named, came up with a creative tactic in getting the two to surrender.

Earlier at around 11 a.m., officers heard that masked men entered a three-story family house and noticed that out in front of the house, there was a reported stolen car involved in a previous chase that escaped.

Police called the family on the third floor to lock their door and stay inside, and they called the owner, who was not home at the time.

Officers told the suspects that they should come outside or else they would send in a police canine. However, there were no canines on the scene, so an officer barked like a dog.

Gideon Gurley, a witness told WFSB: “They were trained. These cops were trained to do stuff like that.”

He said, “I guess that was the best technique to do what they needed to do to get people out,” but added that the whole incident is “not good for the neighborhood.”

The suspects, Kwame Wells-Jordan, 21, Hamden, and Norman Boone, 23, came out with their hands up, and were arrested on burglary and vehicle theft charges. Both men have a history of legal troubles.

The vehicle the men were riding in was reported stolen in Canada.
