The Coolest Cooler Kickstarter project has resonated with people, drawing in over $1 million in crowdfunding.
The cooler is described as “a 21st century cooler” that enables people to blend drinks, charge devices, and play music.
It’s touted as being portable and versatile, including a bottle opener, a cutting board, and an LED light.
“Regular coolers are boring, break easily and are a hassle to haul around just to carry the ice. The COOLEST cooler is 60 quarts of AWESOME packed with so much fun you'll look for excuses to get outside more often,” the description reads.
“Maybe you want to use the built-in ice crushing blender to whip up some margaritas or smoothies on your next boat trip or tailgate? Maybe you just want to always have music on hand with the waterproof bluetooth speaker or want to recharge your electronics with the built in USB charger?”
The project is fairly unusual because many of the backers have pledged over $100. Most Kickstart project pledges are $5 to $20.
For those pledging $165 or $185, they get the cooler.
The pledgers are told that the retail price will be $299, so they’re saving money.
Estimated delivery of the product is February 2015.
Several people even pledged $2,000. They will get the project creator flying out to the hometown and manning a bar at the pledgers next event “with the only COOLEST fully-functional prototype in the world.”
The team says that the product will be developed through February, including finalizing the engineering, placing tooling orders, then beginning manufacturing.
