The Conservative Party, before releasing their “most difficult budget so far,” are tied in support with the official opposition Liberals, according to a new poll released this week.

The Canadian Press Harris-Decima poll, with a sample of about 2,000 people, placed the two parties at 31 percent, far below the necessary support needed for a stable minority, and much less than needed for a majority. The New Democrats came in at 16 per cent.

The results from the poll are consistent with surveys over the past month and a half. However, the Ipso-Reid poll, with a smaller sample of about 1,000 people, stated that the Conservatives were at 37 percent support and the Liberals at 29 percent. The New Democrats came in again at 16 percent.
