Multiple tornadoes touched down in Colorado on Sunday, including the latest in Erie.
Other areas hit include Fort Collins, Wellington, Evans, and Windsor.
All of the tornadoes briefly touched down. Damage was reported in Windsor, where 1.75 inch hail was also reported by the National Weather Service, and in Weld. The tornadoes in the other areas didn’t cause damage.
Hail has been hitting multiple areas as well, including Weld and Larimer.
The latest tornado in Erie touched down at about 5:55 p.m. MDT. Tornado sirens are sounding in Erie, for a tornado warning, according to the Boulder Office of Emergency Management. It later said that there is no longer a tornado threat to Erie.
James Dougherty of 7News is reporting heavy flooding and a destroyed velodrome in Erie.
In addition to hail and tornadoes, there are flash flood warnings in Elbert and Lincoln countries in Colorado and Albany county in Wyoming. There’s also severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for Adams, El Paso, and Fremont counties.
There was a tornado watch and severe thunderstorm watch for Denver county, but it was canceled.
The Denver Airport said that seven planes have been diverted today because of high winds and to check with your carrier before you fly out of the airport. At 7:54 p.m. MDT it said in an update on Twitter: “Delays averaging 30-45 min for some flights. Many getting out on time still. Shifting winds should help soon.”
Later, the Denver Police Department and the National Weather Service began reporting flooding in the Denver area.
