Colorado QB transfer: Colorado junior quarterback Nick Hirschman says he plans to transfer.

Hirschman, who was competing with Connor Wood for the starting spot, said Friday it’s a personal choice to give up his final two years of eligibility.

If he graduates from Colorado as scheduled this spring with a communication degree after three years of coursework, he would be eligible under NCAA rules to compete elsewhere this fall.

Hirschman says he is looking to continue his football career where he can earn his graduate degree.

Coach Mike MacIntyre has granted him a release from his scholarship to all schools other than any other Pac-12 rivals or Colorado opponents in 2013 or 2014.

Colorado previously lost quarterback Jordan Webb to a season-ending ACL tear.
