A Virginia Tech student has been charged with murder after a teenage girl went missing, then was found dead.

The family of Nicole Madison Lovell, 13, reported her missing after she disappeared in the early morning of Jan. 27. They said she pushed a dresser in front of her bedroom door before climbing out of a window.

Lovell’s body was found on Sunday in Surrey County, North Carolina, police said in a statement.

Before the remains were found, police arrested David Eisenhauer, an 18-year-old freshman from Columbia, Maryland.

He was charged with abduction before the body was found, and murder after it was discovered.

Eisenhauer is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail.

“This has been an extremely fast investigation within the just past 12 hours,” said Blacksburg Police Chief Anthony Wilson in a statement. “And we still have a great deal to do as there are multiple interviews to conduct and evidence to be collected and analyzed as we reconstruct the timeline of events leading up to Nicole’s tragic death.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the department at 540-971-1150.

“The entire Virginia Tech community extends its support to Nicole’s family and friends,” Virginia Tech said in a statement.
