CORONA DEL MAR, Calif.—The U.S. Coast Guard suspended on the evening of May 29 the search in the ocean off Corona del Mar for a 48-year-old swimmer who did not return when he was expected.
Coast Guard “assets searched for 27 hours, conducting 12 search patterns spanning 152 square miles,” the agency tweeted about 9 p.m. Sunday.
The Coast Guard did not release the man’s name. He was reportedly due to meet up with a friend at 4 p.m. Saturday but did not show up.
He was last seen wearing blue biker shorts, Coast Guard officials say.

The search includes a crew from Long Beach, a U.S. Coast Guard ship, and a helicopter from Point Mugu.
