Two matches were played in the Paul Y Hong Kong Rugby Union Premiership on Saturday Oct 12. Abacus Kowloon met Hong Kong Scottish at King’s Park while Newedge Club were at home to Borrelli Walsh Tigers.

The match between Leighton Asia Hong Kong Cricket Club and WhichWay Valley was postponed by Valley as they had five players on duty with the Hong Kong 7’s squad at the Mumbai Sevens.

Abacus Kowloon vs Hong Kong Scottish

Abacus Kowloon continued their good start to the season with another resounding win, this time against Hong Kong Scottish, at King’s Park.

Kowloon ran in tries by Rob Forrest (2), Jonny Rees and Eni Gesinde. Chris McAdam converted three tries, kicked two penalties and a drop goal their 35-6 win.

Kowloon were on fire in the first half, but lost concentration in the second period. However, Scottish did not take full advantage of the situation and only scored two penalties through the boot of Danny Kroll.

Newedge Club vs Borrelli Walsh Tigers

Two minutes into the game at the Football Club, Newedge Club’s No.13 Tom McColl strode away from the opposition to place the first try of the match.

The conversion was missed and Borrelli Walsh Tigers countered and spent a fair bit of time close to Club’s line, but it was not until the 33rd minute, after winning a penalty and the subsequent lineout, that the Tigers push over for a try of their own.

The conversion was missed and the score remained 5-5 until half time.

Club got into gear in the second half and started to ratchet up the points. With tries to Adam Raby, Peter McKee, Mike Woodward and Charles French, Club finally started to move their play in the right direction.

The Tigers persevered and scored a second try to make the final score 29-10.
