BUFFALO, N.Y.—An established Buffalo couple came to see Shen Yun this Wednesday night at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in downtown Buffalo. Linda Goodrich, who’s a clothes designer as well as an interior designer, was deeply attracted to the colors.

“I loved the colors... the colors that [were] put together are so incredible,” Mrs. Goodrich said.

The designer called the performance stimulating, as “the colors almost brought a fragrance into the air,” she said.

Shen Yun is a New York based company that comprises three sizable companies touring the world simultaneously. The company’s mission is to bring to the audience 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture though dance and song.

“It was very incredible, very inspiring. I can see that [they] put a lot of work into it and Bravo!” Mrs. Goodrich said after watching the show. As a designer of clothes, she developed an interest in the hand made costumes.

“I loved the way the people twirled around with the fabric... I really loved the clothing that showed off the waist,” Mrs. Goodrich said.

Mr. Goodrich, a businessman in the manufacturing sector, accompanied his wife to the theatre and agreed that the show was impressive. “The show was wonderful. The performances were great. The choreography was sensational,” he said.

For Mr. Goodrich, who possesses extensive knowledge of Chinese history and has traveled to China many times, the high-tech back drops displaying China’s landscapes stood out.

“The scenery was unbelievably brilliant and the choreography blended with the high technology ... that was outstanding,” Mr. Goodrich said.

More than just the special effects, the performance left Mr. Goodrich with a “genuine joy” and in his opinion, made the audience feel a warmth about one another which “break[s] down the barriers that exist between ethnic groups.”

Mrs. Goodrich stated that she would definitely come see the show next year and tell all her friends that it was “the most beautiful, moving show.”
