Clint Dempsey is in the spotlight after scoring a goal in the U.S. men’s national soccer team opening World Cup match, and fans are wondering about his girlfriend or wife.
Dempsey is married, to Bethany Dempsey.
The pair met in college at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. After dating for about a year, they got married in July 2007.
The couple has three kids--two daughters, Elyse and Sophia, and a son, Jackson.
Bethany spends a lot of her time raising her children but is also an educational psychologist. She’s known to some for posing in body paint, with the national jersey painted on her, in a Sports Illustrated shoot with fellow soccer wives and girlfriends Abbey Clancy, Sarah Brander, and Melissa Satta.

The couple lives in England. Dempsey currently plays professionally for Fulham.
Fox spent time in the Dempsey home and came away with good impressions.
“During our taping, Clint danced with his young daughter, Elyse, in the kitchen and seemed more concerned about his family’s good cheer than buffing a tough guy image that has largely been created by the media. The more time you spend with the Dempseys, the harder it is not to come away with the sense that he and his family are a classic, tight-knit American clan that have leaned on one another for support through the years.”
Though they live overseas the Dempseys plan on moving back to the States after Clint retires. They plan on moving back to North Carolina, reported the Charlotte Observer.
