CLEVELAND—Tony and Heidi Caporini learned about 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture through the Shen Yun Performing Arts performance at the State Theatre on Feb. 1.

Each year, New York-based Shen Yun creates a whole new production of dance and music to explore traditional culture. Through 20 some mini-dramas myths, legends and ancient history to the present day are expressed through traditional dance and music, renowned vocal soloists, colorful costumes, and animated backdrops.

Mr. Caporini, owner and manager of a construction building supplies company, stated that Shen Yun was good because he didn’t know much about traditional culture.

“It was a very entertaining show. It was beautiful,” he stated. “I learned a little bit about the Chinese culture.”

Mrs. Caporini’s was moved by both the story of the persecution and the beauty of the performance.

“I was actually really moved by the persecution of the people,” said Mrs. Caporini. She was referring to The Steadfast Lotus, a mini-dance story about the traditional spiritual meditation discipline, Falun Gong, whose practitioners have been persecuted in China for over a decade.

She also elaborated on what moved her about Shen Yun, “Just the beauty of the outfits too, the colors—that was awesome!”

Both husband and wife enjoyed the male dancers playing various instruments, such as the drums as they performed. “I thought that was pretty cool that they played the drums,” he stated.

Mrs. Caporini agreed, “They get to play all the cool stuff. That was cool. I liked it.”

“It was nice to learn something new, ”Mr. Caporini said in conclusion.
