Clean Sweep for USA in FIVB World Grand Prix Finals

While Brazil, Russia and China fought it out for the minor places, the USA Women’s team had already sealed the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2015 win (the world’s top annual tournament) in the Final Round in Omaha, Nebraska, with a game to play. This is the 6th time USA has won the tournament to become the first team to win the World Grand Prix in the same year as the World Championship.

In their final match of the Final Round on Sunday July 26, 2015, USA played China who had defeated USA (3-1) in the Preliminary Competition in Hong Kong just a week before. But this time in front of their own supporters USA made no mistake winning the match in three straight sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-18 to move them onto 15-points and the title.

Also on Day-5, Russia beat Japan (3-0) and Brazil defeated Italy (3-1) Russia and Brazil both finished on 9-points but Russia took second place with a better Set Ratio. After a resounding performance of finishing 2nd in the Preliminary Competition, China were relegated to 4th place in the Finals.
