Clarence “Ace” Parker, who was the oldest living former NFL player, has died. He was 101.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame confirmed on Wednesday that Parker died in the morning.

Parker played quarterback for the Brooklyn Dodgers between 1937 and 1941. He was named the Most Valuable Player in 1940.

His career was interrupted by World War II before he returned and played for the Boston Yanks. Later, he finished his career with the New York Yankees for the All-America Football Conference in 1946.

“Our thoughts go out to Ace’s family and friends,” Steve Perry, the NFL Hall of Fame’s president, said in a statement.

He added: “On behalf of all of the Hall of Famers, the Board, and staff, we reflect on a full life lived and will forever remember the football legacy created by Ace Parker.”

Parker was the only Hall of Fame player to live past 100.
