Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder told the Los Angeles Times that deputies and medical personnel found an elderly couple—Gerald Wilson, 88, and his wife Mamie, 78—dead in their home on Highway 59 North, after the storm struck at about 6:17 a.m.

James Murray, 78, was also found dead inside a nearby dairy barn.

At least five casualties were taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark.

The storm, which was fueled by unusually warm winter air, also damaged and removed the roofs from several homes and buildings, including the Cincinnati Fire Department.

As the storm blew down power lines, more than 18,000 Ozarks Electric customers were without power, according to the LA Times.

“Anytime you have a significant change in air mass there is going to be unsettled weather marking the two different air masses,” said Joe Sellers, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Tulsa, Okla., according to The Associated Press.
