Director Christopher Nolan recently announced the ongoing creative process of the next Batman film.

The sequel to “The Dark Knight” is in the works with Nolan collaborating on the script with writer David Goyer.

In a recent interview with MTV, Nolan talked about his work on the script with his brother and Goyer. The film will be another addition to a long list of Batman films, but the third addition to the latest batch of Batman movies, which includes “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight.” There is no word as to who will be cast into the movie.

“We know we’re aiming for 2012 [as a release date]. That’s been talked about. We’re just working on the script, really. My brother [Jonah Nolan] has been hard at work on it for quite some time. It’s based on a story that myself and David Goyer have written,” Nolan told MTV in his interview.

Nolan dropped some hints as to what to expect from the film. There will most likely not be a joker character and it seems the creators do not want to fall short after the late Heath Ledger’s performance.

Robin Williams recently spoke about wanting to be a part of the latest Batman film—but only as a villain, reported Empire Magazine this week.

Warner Brothers is not only working on the new Batman film behind closed doors but there are also rumors of a Wonder Woman film being developed.

Nolan also spoke to the New York Times about his plans for the new Batman as well as his accrued experience from past films.

He talked about how the work on previous Batman movies made him ready for a large project like Inception.

“I wouldn’t have been able to make this film until I had done the Batman films, because it’s on such a massive scale, compared to anything else I’ve done. I had tried to write it smaller, on the assumption I might not be able to secure the budget I needed,” said Nolan.

The director’s latest film, “Inception” starring Leonaro DiCaprio, will premiere in July 16. A sweepstakes is being held on the Christopher Nolan Fan website to celebrate the upcoming release of the film.
