“Gov. Christie is flattered that his accomplishments in New Jersey have received so much support from voters across the country, but nothing has changed with regard to the governor’s decision not to run for president in 2012,” Rick Gorka, the Republican spokesperson for New Jersey, told ABC News.
Several months ago, Christie said he was not looking to run for the nation’s top office. “I’m 100 percent certain I’m not going to run,” he told CNN, in an interview in June.
However, Christie is making a trip through Missouri, California, and Louisiana in the next week to raise campaign funds for Republican Party candidates facing elections next year.
In Missouri, Christie spoke at a $10,000-a-plate event to raise cash for the New Jersey GOP, reports The Associated Press. He is expected to speak in Simi Valley, Calif., on Tuesday.
Despite claims that he will not run, sources close to Christie told ABC that there is intense “pressure from donors and other people” for him to enter the race.
