Chris Wright, possibly the youngest mayor in the country, was shot on Thursday night.
The shooting appears to be part of a robbery, reported WALB.
Wright was taken to a hospital, and his condition is not yet known.
Wright edged out the incumbent by 30 votes in 2012.
