Chris Soules appears to have been confirmed as the next Bachelor as Arie Luyendyk Jr., the other top candidate, told fans via Twitter that he wasn’t chosen.

“I’m not the Bachelor,” Luyendyk said. “Have fun on the farm people.”

He’s referring to Soules being a farmer in Iowa.

Soules was previously reported to have gotten the gig by Reality Steve, who said that Soules already signed a contract and has begun filming.

“He was filmed at the Franklin Hotel/Restaurant in Strawberry Point (where production stayed), a bar in Arlington called the Wagon Wheel, and was also filmed at the Iowa State Fair this past weekend,” he said earlier this month.

Addressing doubters, he added:

“Now, some of you might say, ‘Yeah, but didn’t production film Arie last month in Arizona?’ Yes, they did. Chris is your Bachelor. Just like pretty much every other spoiler I give you, if you doubt it, I guess you‘ll have to wait til ABC makes it ’official.'”

Soules told the Des Moines Register last month that he would be a good Bachelor.

“Just logically, it makes sense,” Soules said. “You know, I live in Arlington, Iowa, and that’s why (going on ‘The Bachelorette’) made sense. ... It was a good opportunity for a guy like me. And it’s an even better opportunity to be on the other side, where you have the opportunity to meet 25 incredible women. So yeah, I would definitely consider it.”

Huffington Post reported on Tuesday that an ABC representative said that an official announcement will be made on Good Morning America on Wednesday.

Filming for season 19 will start later this year.
