Chris Rock and Rosario Dawson, who co-star in the new movie Top Five, are rumored to be together after Rock’s split with wife Malaak Compton-Rock.

The rumor was first reported by gossip website Media TakeOut.

Now Star magazine says Rock’s relationship with Dawson is to “blame” for his divorce turning “ugly.”

The tabloid says the couple’s split has “gone from quietly amicable to downright dirty” because of Compton-Rock’s becoming furious over Rock and Dawson’s “close relationship.

The tabloid also claims that the casting of Dawson in the movie, as she and Rock play people who become romantically involved, had something to do with the split.

Rock, who also wrote and directed the film, created the role with Dawson in mind, and convinced her to join the film.

“When you’re working with someone who is the writer and the director and the actor, you feel like, this person is going to be really overly precious,” Dawson told Vogue. “Chris said, ‘Listen, I have no ego about this. Share with me. I want you to be a part of this so that you can bring what you bring. Like the movie says—put your stank on it.’”

However, representatives for both Rock and Dawson have slammed the rumors, which some say started after a picture of Chris and Rosario kissing lightly on the lips at a Top Five premiere was published.

“There is no truth to that,” Rock’s rep told the New York Post. “The rumor is 100 percent untrue.”
