Chris Cuomo Announces He’s Ending SiriusXM Radio Show

Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo confirmed Monday he is ending his SiriusXM radio program, according to a statement.

“While I have a thick skin, I also have a family, for whom the past week has been extraordinarily difficult,” Cuomo, who was fired by CNN over the weekend, wrote on Twitter Monday. “So, right now, I have to take a step back and focus on what comes next.”

CNN terminated its relationship with Cuomo after an investigation revealed that he helped his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, respond to allegations of sexual misconduct.

Cuomo did not host the show on Monday, and former ABC News reporter Brian Ross filled in for the 12 p.m. timeslot.

“I will no longer be doing my SiriusXM radio show,” Cuomo’s Monday statement added. “I am extremely grateful for the support I have received from SiriusXM throughout my time there. I also want to express my sincere appreciation for my loyal listeners. I will miss our conversations a great deal—but I look forward to being back in touch with you all in the future.”

The Epoch Times has contacted SiriusXM for comment. A spokesperson for the firm confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Cuomo would be leaving the company.

“Following Chris Cuomo’s statement that he is leaving his SiriusXM show, Let’s Get After It will no longer air,” a spokesperson for the satellite radio company said. “We thank Chris for his work at SiriusXM.”

CNN fired Cuomo Saturday, days after he was suspended by the network over information released in a trove of documents by New York Attorney General Letitia James during her investigation into sexual harassment claims that were lodged against then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo while he was still in office.

A day after his termination, a spokesman for Chris Cuomo told the Wall Street Journal that CNN President Jeff Zucker had knowledge of “the details of Mr. Cuomo’s support for his brother,” adding: “There were no secrets about this, as other individuals besides Mr. Cuomo can attest.”

CNN, in a responding statement, said that Cuomo “made a number of accusations that are patently false.”

“This reinforces why he was terminated for violating our standards and practices, as well as his lack of candor,” the network added.

Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, ultimately stepped down from his position as governor earlier this year, but he has maintained that the allegations against him are false. He’s now facing misdemeanor criminal charges.

Over the weekend, Steven Goldberg, a spokesperson for Chris Cuomo, denied claims of alleged sexual misconduct by a former junior colleague.

“If the goal in making these false and unvetted accusations was to see Mr. Cuomo punished by CNN, that may explain his unwarranted termination,” Goldberg told The New York Times following public remarks made by attorney Debra Katz, who is representing an unidentified woman who made the allegations to CNN.
