The truck driven by missing Louisiana State University student Chris Broussard was found on Wednesday with his body inside.

Broussard’s 2004 Nissan Frontier Kingcab was found overturned off of Louisiana 30, south of Baton Rouge near the Iberville Parish line, reported WBRZ

Broussard was last heard from on early Tuesday. He texted his mother around 1 a.m., telling her that he was leaving a party near LSU.

Broussard was found soon after his truck was on Wednesday night, according to his cousin, Katie Greenlee (see tweets below). Greenlee said her family would release specifics later, but she said on the Facebook page that was started after Broussard went missing that “My cousin has been found, but the worst we thought is true.”

“I wanted to say thank you to all of you on this page,” she said. “Just keep my aunt, uncle, cousin, the rest of our family, and his fraternity in y'all’s prayers.”

Police later confirmed with the Daily Reveille, the LSU student newspaper, that the body inside the truck was Broussard.

Saint Gabriel Police Chief Kevin Ambeau said that the truck was traveling about 50 miles per hour when it hit the guardrail and went up in the air before landing upside down on the opposite embankment.

Security footage from Bogie’s, the bar where Broussard was, shows him “falling behind his friends to help another man into his vehicle,” according to the Daily Reveille. Broussard’s father, Mike, said that his son was always trying to help others.

A toxicology test on the body is planned in the coming days.

People on the Facebook page posted heartfelt reactions after the final news came in.

“Chris, may you rest in peace. You were such a pleasure to be around all of the years we knew you. Always smiling,” said Debbie Conrad Scott. “I know you meant a lot to Brett and to all of your friends and you will be missed forever. They will always have the memories but you will be missed. RIP, Buddy.”

“So very sorry Katie. Thank you for letting us know,” said Peggy Gonzalez. “Sending prayers for the family...”

“RIP to one of our Tigers. Prayers are sent,” said Lisa Sandoval on Twitter.
