Mayor Bill de Blasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, who is also Chair of the Mayor’s Fund announced her right-hand man this Wednesday, March 19.

Darren Bloch will act as the Executive Director to The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and Counsel to the Office of Strategic Partnerships.

Bloch’s responsibilities will include oversight and management of business affairs, working with the Board of Directors, and working with the Mayor’s Office to develop priorities in fund allocation. He will also help city agencies to develop funding priorities.

“New York City has a wealth of resources that, working in conjunction with the city’s priorities, can make a significant impact on our city,” Bloch said in a release.

McCray said she’s thrilled to have Bloch join.

“He’s got the talent, experience, and passion we need to push forward our agenda of building one New York that rises together,” she said.

Bloch has experience working with multiple city agencies including the New York City Council, New York City Public Advocate’s Office, and the Empire State Economic Development Corporation.
