A woman in Sichuan Province was jailed for three years, after attacking her husband with a fruit knife while watching a soap opera.
Ms. Deng and Mr. Wang married in 2000; both had been married before. Wang is a doctor, and Deng is a pharmacist, newssc.org reported.
While watching a TV drama in May last year, the couple started fighting about the show’s plot, and Deng became upset. She then stabbed Wang in the abdomen, and he had to be hospitalized.
Deng showed remorse during her trial, and Wang forgave her in court, leading to a lighter sentence of three years with four years probation, according to newssc.org.
Netizens commented about the story on a discussion forum, with some saying that women who marry for a second time are too cruel.
Another wrote: “Modern life is too impetuous. People must calm down!”
